Mount Zero Hero| Kon Karapanagiotidis from ASRC

We are so pleased to introduce Mount Zero Hero Kon Karapanagiotidis from Asylum Seeker Resource Centre in Footscray. We had the privilege of cooking lunch with Kon while he shared recipes from his cookbook 'A Seat At My Table-Philioxenia ' - written with his Mum Sia.

We met, cooked, and shared a seat at Kon's lunch table with members of the ASRC team. In addition to enjoying the most delicious Greek lunch, we got to hear about all the amazing work ASRC has achieved over the past 25 years. The scope of what the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre offers to people seeking asylum is truly incredible. A place of welcome is more important than ever for marginalised people in Australia and around the world, and ASRC offers hope and dignity to many people in need. Watch & listen below as Kon cooks.

If you want to get involved in supporting the great work at ASRC, you can volunteer in their kitchen, donate to their food banks, donate to their Winter Appeal and spread the good word to friends and family. Head here to get involved

Rising living costs, limited support and an uncertain future: these are the challenges facing people seeking asylum every day.  Contributions provide stability and hope for refugee families, giving them access to nutritous food, vital medical care and the support they need to stay safe this season. In times of despair, you can give hope here.

Enjoy this Kon's recipe for Briam- Roasted Vegetables from his cookbook A Seat At My Table - Philioxenia written with his Mum Sia Karapanagiotidis.
